Angela Broaddus is an experienced mathematics educator, researcher, and author with more than three decades of teaching across middle school, high school, and college classrooms. Her work has been driven by a deep commitment to helping students move beyond memorized procedures toward meaningful, lasting mathematical understanding. After observing that many students could perform calculations yet struggled to retain or apply their knowledge, Angela dedicated her career to exploring how conceptual connections in mathematics are formed and sustained.<\/p>

Her research began with a focus on middle school students\u2019 understanding of slope and expanded into a broader investigation of how mathematical thinking develops from early childhood through high school. Over the past ten years, she has applied this expertise in preparing future elementary teachers, equipping them with the knowledge and strategies needed to teach mathematics in ways that foster clarity, confidence, and connection.<\/p>

Angela\u2019s passion for education is complemented by a rich and grounded personal life. She and her husband of 38 years spent nearly two decades as a military family, living throughout the southern United States and in Germany before settling in Kansas in 2004. There, they enjoy life on a small farm surrounded by horses, dogs, cats, and a thriving garden. A musician at her church and former member of the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, Angela also enjoys creative pursuits such as baking, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing.<\/p>

Inspired by the growing homeschooling movement, Angela wrote this book to support parents and teachers, especially those without formal training in mathematics education, in developing a deeper understanding of math and more effective ways to teach it. Her goal is not recognition, but impact: to provide an accessible, practical resource that empowers adults to help children truly make sense of mathematics and build strong, connected knowledge that lasts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
